The Shimano CM-2000 is a high-performance action sports camera that is easy to use, streamlined, waterproof, dustproof and features image stabiliser technology. The CM-2000 is ANT+ compatible and can also be paired with GPS devices and Di2 units.
The device has an advanced auto-record feature and can be set to start filming when you hit a certain speed, power or location on your ride. This means you can focus on riding without having to hit record, battery life is improved and editing footage takes significantly less time.
Data-linked recording
Start recording without touching any buttons! You can link the Shimano sports camera with various ANT+ sensors and wireless units and pre-set it to record the scenes you want to capture without having to hit the record button. For example, you can tell the camera to record when you are riding at over 45kph or when you’re putting out more than 800 watts. There are 6 types of linkable data:
- Speed – i.e. capture aggressive riding on a downhill
- Cadence - i.e. record riding on a super steep hill at a low cadence
- Heart Rate - i.e. start recording when your heart rate is high and you’re on the limit
- Power – i.e. record a fast acceleration when sprinting on the flat or up a climb
- Di2 – i.e. record when in a certain gear position such as in a big gear on a fast descent
- GPS – i.e. record on a specific road with a great view
Each type of linkable data can be customised within the Sport Camera App on smartphones. Auto-recording is simple to use and enables you to capture great footage while riding with having to press the record button when the camera is in hard to reach places such as on your helmet or saddle rails.
High-performance
The CM-2000 records at 1440p at 30 frames per second (2.5k) as well as High-definition and Full Hd, all of which offer superb picture quality. The camera performs extremely well in low light conditions such as on the road at dusk or when riding off-road in forests with thick vegetation.
Image stabilisation
The CM-2000 can be mounted on your handlebars, saddle rails or helmet. Image stabilisation technology helps to record sharp, vivid images even when the road surface is uneven or when you’re riding out of the saddle.
Waterproof and dustproof
Waterproof and dustproof performance means the camera is robust and doesn’t require any protective case. A water repellent lens protector also means rain drops and wheel spray flow off the lens and won’t affect the quality of your recording.
Editing and ANT+ overlay
Shimano’s camera editor is available for Mac and Windows devices. Because the CM-2000 has ANT+ connectivity, data from various ANT+ sensors can be overlaid on the video. The auto-record feature means there is often less editing required as you don’t have hours of footage to look through.
Sport Camera App and Smartphone Compatibility
The CM-2000 can be controlled via the Sport Camera App which is available for both iOS and Android devices. You can check the view point on live view, configure shooting conditions and check recorded videos.

Low battery life
The quality is pretty good but the battery life is really bad. So far, I haven't been able to record more than ~30 minutes and I realize (home) that it stopped somewhere after 1 file recorded. I'm not sure actually. Oh and there's no way to buy a spare battery (in Canada at least). Not 100% a waste of money, but almost. I think I prefer my 50$ chinese camera, at least it will record for a long time and I can buy batteries.

Nice Camera to have
Brought two of these camera. Battery life is about an hour in the cold. and image quality is good. Only wish the camera can be a bit smaller and lighter. Very easy to use with Iphone app.

Get what you Pay for.
There is a good reason why this camera is such a screaming deal. I deeply regret wasting my money on this unit. As another reviewers already stated the battery life is atrocious, I would say one hour is pushing it. The GoPro is considerably more money but would actually record a whole bike ride without dying. I also get extremely agitated when trying to connect the camera to my phone, which you have to do every time you use the camera. It doesn't connect the first four times I try and then eventually does for no apparent reason. Shimano should be ashamed of themselves for actually selling this camera in my opinion. By time you buy a good memory card and a k Edge mount so that you can actually use the camera you're really thinking a good amount of money into something that doesn't get you what you want.

One small but important flaw
Great product with one notable exception - the battery life is very limited. Happy with weight, size, video quality, functions... but 90 minutes just isn't enough.

Nice for the price
Nice for the price paid under 100$. Only default, must used iphone to direct view. Also, battery Life is short and not able to have another one. Many complaint about it.

Buy cheap
It can work with ANT+ cycling computers and sensors such as heart rate monitors, plus info from a Shimano Di2 electronic shift system, and it records data. AdTech Ad The camera, which you can mount on your handlebar, saddle rails or bike helmet, is waterproof and dustproof and has a lens protector with a water repellent finish, the idea being that rain and spray will flow off rather than sitting on the lens and affecting the quality of your footage. It also has a blur-correction function that’s going to come in particularly handy if you use it off-road. CM-2000 can also use the GPS data of your smartphone, communicating with it via Bluetooth. You can preset it to record a segment of your ride from one position to another. The CM-2000 can be controlled via a new iOS and Android Shimano Sport Camera smartphone app that allows you to view what’s being recorded in real time, so you can check that the footage is exactly what you want. It allows you to set the image quality, angle of view (90° up to 130°), white balance and exposure.

Good but...
So, the Shimano CM-2000 is a great camera, but... When syncing with your phone there are two little buttons which for people with big hands will find fiddly to press. They are recessed into the camera housing, which I find is quite difficult to press especially with cold hands. Using the Shimano Sports Camera app, you can set the camera to auto record on cadence, heart rate, power, and speed. Which is great. But, EVERYTIME you switch the camera on, you have to press that silly little button, run through some menus and switch on the Bluetooth sensor to pair with your sensors...THIS MUST BE A BUG! If I want to go out cycling and want to know that the camera will record when my heart rate reaches 160bpm for example, I don't want to have to switch on the camera and spend 5 minutes making sure I have turned on the Bluetooth. Right PITA! That is really the only fault I have with the camera. I am sure this could be sorted with Firmware from Shimano if only would respond to emails and see the reviews. Great camera quality for pictures though with the 6mp sensor it has taken some quite beautiful shots of the road on my travels.

seeing is recording
so how could I turn down this ace little bit of kit at the price ProBikeKit were offering it at. The best price on the web by far. I already had an earlier version so thought that I would be getting just more of the same. I was wrong there as I got a whole lot more. The camera has grown a little since the first version but no so much that it has become clumbersome. I like to film using a headband and it still feels comfortable when fitted. Where this camera comes into its own is when it is paired with you smart phone. All the controls are easy to find and use. I feel that it can take quite a bit of hammer so I have the confidence to take it anywhere. Now I just have to get out there and get shooting.

Great camera, awful battery life
Relatively easy to operate, turning on the WiFi is a bit of a faff. It does work well, happy with picture quality and it connects to ANT+ sensors if you need it to. The app and PC SW works quite well, it always connects so no issue with that. It's a little heavy when on a helmet but the biggest problem is battery life. Even on the lowest video resolution I've only managed to get 1hr 10 mins recording and who cycles for just an hour?

Hi Spec, Complex
This is a very good camera with very good optics. It's also a neat package, having less frontal area than a GoPro. The list of features is almost endless, with some really (potentially) useful options. This is also a slight problem. The controls are not that intuitive & I confess that after a few rides, I've not got it to do what I want. That's not to say that it won't. It just needs more perseverance on my part. So far, I've had battery life of around 90 minutes. Probably would last longer if I switched off all the ant+ & GPS features. The battery is replacable, if you can find one. I can't! At this price, it is an absolute steal. Even if you cannot wrestle the camera to do the things it says it can do, it is still a bargain.
